He has more than 22 years of experience in the airlines, logistics, and hospitality industries engaging in passenger traffic and cargo operations as well as involving in sales and marketing and customer services management roles. During his tenure with Singapore Airlines (SIA), he was instrumental in setting up the SIA Cargo office at the Shanghai Hongqiao airport in the early 90’s and subsequently went on to become one of SIA main Cargo freighter hubs in the Far East. Mr Ang’s flair of strategic analysis and marketing skills had been noted early in his career and thus he was posted overseas by SIA as the airport manager initially and later on as country manager to manage SIA offices in Thailand, China, Taiwan, Indonesia, Vietnam, Egypt, Singapore, India, Turkey and Brunei.
His other achievements include receiving the PATA’s best innovative award when he turnaround Bali’s tourism industry within 3 months after the Bali bomb incident in 2002. He evaluated air demand into Hanoi and negotiated increase in Hanoi flights operations from 4x weekly to daily services in year 2004 and lobbied and overhauled SIA Istanbul flight frequency and capacity from 5x weekly Singapore-Dubai-Istanbul vv to 6x weekly direct services to Singapore – Istanbul vv in year 2012. He holds a Bachelor Degree in Electrical Engineering from the National University of Singapore, majoring in Avionics.
